Water Access Regina -- Access to city water is now conditional on the surrender of your privacy.

But the City Means No Harm!

Unjustifiably stripping city residents of their ability to control access to sensitive private information constitutes harm.

Those entrusted with public office have a duty of care for those whom they are to serve.  The current actions of the City represent a dereliction of duty.

Bureaucratic and managerial efficiency do not trump the vigorous protection of the personal security of local residents.

Private information being indeed private is part of what constitutes the security of  persons.  A key part of protecting the privacy of those who entrust leaders with public office is committing not to unnecessarily seize control of private details of people's lives.

To seize control of access to sensitive private information by coercion, then to defend doing so by pointing to privacy laws and protocols, lends small comfort to those who know anything of the history of the 20th and 21st centuries.
